Days 1-4
Using unscented antibacterial hand soap, gently wash your new tattoo under slow running warm water. Do not allow to soak.
Allow to fully air dry. Once your new ink is fully dry (feels tight), apply aftercare balm/healing ointment in a very fine layer over entire tattoo. You don't want it to be thick and goopy but you also don't want it to be dry. Find the right balance to keep your new tattoo hydrated between washes.
Do this 3-4 times a day for 3-5 days.
Only cover it to protect it from irritation or bacteria exposure; protection from clothes, pets, bedding, etc.
If you are experiencing swelling, a gentle massage may help to encourage the healing process.
You can also ice your tattoo and use general over the counter pain and anti-inflammatory medications to reduce swelling.
You want your tattoo to breathe so don't keep it covered in plastic for long.
Also avoid wearing clothing that will rub on the new tattoo to avoid irritation.

Days 5-10
Once the skin seals and the surface of the tattoo begins to shed, switch from ointment to unscented moisturizing lotion.
Continue to clean and moisturize your tattoo 2-3 times a day, or as needed.
Continue to avoid soaking; baths, pools, hot tubs, saunas, excessive workouts.
It is important to keep your skin moisturized during this phase. You want to keep the new skin from cracking and causing scabs.
Peeling and itching are normal during this part of the healing period. Do not itch or force peel. Allow your tattoo to heal gently.

Special Attention
Avoid pet dander, sun exposure, fragranced lotions, swimming/bathing/soaking, or tight clothing on the new tattoo for the first 2 weeks.
If you begin to experience irritation, swelling, puss, concerning scabbing, or odor, you may be experiencing an infection. Please consult your doctor or a licensed medical professional.
